I'M KAYLA SHAI

I'm the Founder and Lead Lioness of Firmsteps. As a published writer and lover of the arts, there’s nothing I love more than a good story. Since I was raised in Georgia, I'm no stranger to southern charm, Coca-Cola, or keeping my cowgirl boots nearby for those special
occasions.

I accepted Jesus in my heart at the young age of 5, while sipping on some Kool-Aid with my mom on the front porch swing. But, it wasn’t until I powerfully encountered the presence of Jesus in the 7th grade that I decided, “Since Jesus showed up for me, I want to show up for Him every day of my life.” Ever since that moment, my life has been marked by many different dreams and desires on my heart requiring a lot of faith, risks, and courage.

One of my biggest dreams is to see other girls being marked in the same way. Outside of building Firmsteps, you can find me writing my next book, building memories with family and friends, serving and encouraging various faith-based communities, or chasing down a good sunset.
